Travel Hockey Programming

  • What Birth Years will be under the Columbus Cannons?
  • 2026/27 Season
  • 16U (2010 and 2011 Birth Year)

  • Will CAHA and CCYHA still have 2016 and 2017 travel teams next year?
  • No, The Columbus Cannons are a NEW combined effort between the two organizations and are replacing programming previously offered by CAHA and CCYHA at 10U Travel Hockey for the 2026-2027 season and beyond
  • How many travel teams will be under the Columbus Cannons?
  • 16U - 1 travel team
  • 2016 Birth Year - 4 travel teams
  • 2017 Birth Year - 4 travel teams
  • All depending on number of qualified players trying out and accepting offers
  • What level of play will each team be at each birth year?
  • First picked team will play a schedule between AAA / AA
  • Second picked team will play a AA schedule
  • Teams Three and Four will play an A schedule
  • All depending on number of qualified players trying out and accepting offers
  • Will there be fewer travel teams with the new organization then there were at CAHA / CCYHA?
  • No, the plan is to roster 4 teams at each birth-year, the same amount of teams / roster spots at the 9U and 10U levels
  • When are the tryouts for the Cannons?
  • Tryouts will occur mid-April, shortly after 2016 Ohio AAA Blue Jackets and 2017 Battery AAA
  • When will tryout registration open?

  • What is the cost for each team?
  • Fees will be comparable to current travel teams at the Tier II level
  • Exact fees will be released prior to tryouts
  • What do I do if my child is a 2012 to 2015 Birth Year?
  • Ohio AAA Blue Jackets operate the Tier I programming for the 2026-2027 season
  • CAHA and CCYHA still offer Tier II programming for the 2026-2027 season
  • Tryout information can be found on their respective sites
  • Where will practices occur?
  • On-Ice sessions will be at the various Chiller facilities
  • What will happen to CAHA and CCYHA?
  • CAHA and CCYHA will work together operating as the Columbus Cannons Hockey Club until the established teams age out. At that time The current organizations will sunset.
  • Rollout of the remaining birth-years will be announced at a later date

*NEW TEAM* 16U Tier 2 (2010 + 2011 Birth Year)

  • How many teams will be offered?
  • There will be one team offered under the Columbus Cannons for the 16U programming.
  • Can I play for my existing High School Team and this team?
  • No, this program will operate like a traditional Tier 2 travel team and be a full season team that will compete at the Tier 2 AA level.
  • When are the tryouts for Cannons Hockey Teams?
  • These will be in conjunction with the travel programming, more information can be found on the travel tryout page with rink times / locations.
  • What type of teams will this team be playing?
  • The schedule will be a mixture of pure travel teams and high school teams
  • When will practices be for this team?
  • This team will practice exclusively in the mornings at the Chillers.
  • Exact time is TBD, but anticipate as early as 545 AM twice a week.

Select Hockey Programming

  • Will Select teams be part of the Cannons programming?
  • Yes, our plan is to continue with the Select program at 10U under the Columbus Cannons
  • What is the current structure of the Select program?
  • We have announced some information on the travel registration page and will continue to release information as its finalized leading up to tryouts
  • When are the tryouts for Cannons Select Hockey Teams?
  • These will be in conjunction with the travel programming, as we have expanded that process to 3 days to allow for all teams to be picked from those groups. Select tryouts might not start until Day 2 of that process, all depending on # of registrants.

8U Hockey Programming

  • Will the Columbus Cannons offer 8U programming
  • All 8U programming will be run through our partners at Battery Hockey Academy and CBJHL
  • Battery Hockey Academy will offer both AAU Travel Hockey and USAH Select Hockey
  • CBJHL will continue to offer local hockey programming


Girls Hockey Programming

  • Will the Columbus Cannons offer any girls teams in the 2026/27 season?
  • Not at this time, but we strive to have girls programming within the Columbus Cannons in the upcoming seasons
  • Where can I find girls only teams for this season?
  • OhioAAABlueJackets at Tier I / AAA and CCYHA at Tier II for the 2026-2027 season.


Columbus Cannons Coaches

  • How will coaches be selected?
  • The Executive Board and Hockey Director will accept coaching applications prior to tryouts
  • Applications will be reviewed during the lead-up to tryouts and coaches will be announced
  • Can I apply to be an Assistant Coach?
  • Yes, the application is for all coaches
  • Will the coaching staff be Paid or Parent Coaches?
  • Coaching staff will be a mix of both
  • Will the Columbus Cannons use skills coaches during the season like CAHA, CCYHA, and OBJ
  • Yes, our athletes and coaches will have access to skills coaches throughout the season
  • Will there be goalie coaches during the season?
  • Yes, dedicated goalie coaches will be a part of our regular practice schedule for all ages and teams.
