Scholarship Applications

We believe every player who earns a spot deserves the chance to play, regardless of financial circumstances. Our scholarship fund is dedicated to breaking down financial barriers and supporting families, ensuring that we can help our athletes chase their dreams on the ice.

We are incredibly grateful to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation for their generous support in making these opportunities possible!

If your family requires financial assistance, please complete the grant application below.

Basic Overview

  • Scholarships apply strictly to Cannons registration fees. They cannot exceed the total cost of the season, and they do not cover extra team fees, travel expenses, or equipment.
  • We apply the approved amount (full or partial) directly as a credit to your player's account. We do not cut cash or check disbursements.
  • This program is designed to provide temporary relief during a tough stretch, not to act as a permanent annual subsidy.
  • Assistance is limited to two years per player unless the Executive Board approves a special exception.
  • If your family receives a scholarship, you may be asked to chip in some volunteer hours for the club.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Your family must be in good financial standing with Columbus Cannons.
  • Your skater must already be registered for the upcoming season (Select or Travel).
  • We give priority to families who currently qualify for public assistance programs, like school lunch subsidies, medical assistance, or unemployment.

How to Apply

  • You must submit your application electronically after accepting a roster spot for your player.
  • Deadline is August 10th to submit application.
  • Please fill out a separate application for each individual player.
  • You don't need to upload tax returns or 1099s right now. However, the committee does reserve the right to ask for them later if we need to verify financial need.

Review Process

We take your privacy incredibly seriously! To make sure the process is completely fair, the only person who sees the names attached to the financial info is the club President and Treasurer.

Scholarship Committee reviews the blind applications and awards funds based on total need, how many families apply, and our available budget for the year.
